Natural deodorants got popular when there was a thought that the aluminum salts in antiperspirants were dangerous and possibly causing breast cancer and Alzheimer's. Using ingredients like arrowroot powder, baking soda, or cornstarch along with essential oils and moisturizers, natural deodorants strive to keep you feeling fresh while letting your body sweat naturally. They do not stop sweat, they only stop odor. Natural deodorants, also called aluminum-free deodorants, are not antiperspirants. While I don’t like this term, I choose to use it for this post as this is the term used to market these deodorants.
